According to a Nexus One user, the Flash 10.1 player on Android will play sound no matter what mode the phone is on, even silent mode. It seems like it doesn’t matter if your device is on silent mode, if you’re watching a Flash-enabled video in the browser, the audio will still play. So, if you’re catching up on a show while others are sleeping, you’re going to want to use your headphones, or be a dick and wake everyone...

Apparently, Google will not be releasing the much hoped for Nexus Two , the supposed Super Phone followup to the Nexus One Android phone. Google chief Eric Schmidt essentially confirmed that the search giant has no plans to make or sell the fabled QWERTY keyboard-toting successor to the Nexus One. Google believes that they accomplished their goals and don’t need a Nexus Two Android phone. This is one of the saddest things I’ve ever...

Luke Hutchison, a self proclaimed “Android Hacker” and PhD candidate at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, loves his Nexus One, just like all us other Nexus One owners do, but his screen was not quite delivering the results he expected. Compared to the Motorola ( NYSE: MOT ) Droid, which has a similar 3.7 inch screen, but also a slightly larger 480 x 854 screen resolution, the text on his Nexus One...

An interesting story over at AndroidForums has surfaced. It looks like out of all that 512MBs on the spec sheet of the Nexus One, only 196MBs are available to the user. Fixes have been promised, but nothing more. Over at the XDA forums, someone got hold of Romaine Guy in an IRC channel, an Android developer that works for Google ( NSDQ: GOOG ), and posted their conversation . It seems like the issue with the Nexus One is connected to the kernel,...

The Nexus One’s modder’s have very been busy lately, turning something great into something better. First, with the new Sense UI ports that have began to trickle out, and now we have video of some other goodies on their way. The newest additions to the fast growing add-ons are a multi-color trackball option, custom live wallpapers, and 360 degree rotation with the accelerometer. It hasn’t been even been a three months since...

Looks like the last OTA update for the Nexus One seemed to be focused primarily on features, rather than fixes. The update that enabled multi-touch in the Browser, Gallery, and Maps applications also promised to fix the 3G problems that had been plaguing Nexus One users since the launch of the device. Now that the update has reached the majority of Nexus One users, it seems the problems still persist. But, there’s still hope. Google...

The official Nexus One Desktop Dock is here, as announced by Google . As you can presume, it offers a dedicated place to charge your phone, “on your desk or nightstand.” But that’s not all – as soon as you slip your Nexus One into the dock, the Clock app opens with local time and weather, alarm settings, photo slideshows, and your music. Moreover, there’s a 3.5mm-to-RCA audio cable so you could listen to the music...

One of the Nexus One’s more useful features is arguably the speech-to-text recognition service that allows you to dictate text messages, emails and web search queries. Thanks to Android 2.1 OS, the Nexus One can record your voice, send it to Google ( NSDQ: GOOG )’s speech recognition servers and figure out what it is you’re trying to say. It really is a handy feature. Handy, that is, until you’re trying to get dirty with...

Most unboxings around these parts involve the stuttered fumbling of tech bloggers making banal comments on wires, headphones, and chargers. With any luck, they’ll make a lame attempt at humour while the device is booting up , but even those tends to fail miserably. But you know who does a real unboxing? Do you know who can truly unleash the beast contained within? Who can shed packaging with surgical (yet furious) skill? Ninjas . [ YouTube...

With all the Nexus One hubub, Google ( NSDQ: GOOG ) made a couple surprising announcements today that almost slipped through the cracks. One of the surprises was Google’s announcement that both Verizon ( NYSE: VZ ) and Vodafone ( NYSE: VOD ) would soon offer the Nexus One on their respective networks. The second surprise was Google’s preview of the Google Earth app for Android. As we mentioned in our Nexus One announcement live blog...
