While the iPhone rumor has come a gone a few times , this is the first time the iPhone 3GS has been rumored to hit Magenta this year. It takes a stretch of the imagination to believe that this may materialize, unless, of course, rolling back to the earlier model is Apple’s strategy for handling its iPhone 4 antenna issue. Today, LG introduced a series of high-end smartphones powered by NVIDIA’s dual core Tegra 2 processor . As previously rumored , these Tegra 2 smartphones will be part of LG’s recently announced Optimus line of mobile devices and will start shipping in Q4 2010. Samsung should consider itself one lucky company for having such a strong community around one of its products – i8910 HD . The Symbian S60-powered smartphone recently got two additional fix-ups – HyperX’s HX-V8-32 and faenil’s n2o4 . The tagline “HD Voice” is nothing more than a marketing gimmick that latches onto the High Definition hype that’s been going around these past few years, but what “HD Voice” really is, to put it into technical terms, is an adaptive multi-rate wideband codec. Here’s some numbers for you to wrap your head around. A typical mobile phone call transmits sound at 6.6 kbps and only supports a frequency range of 300 to 3400 Hz. As it turns out, Gingerbread may not be the official Android 3.0, but 2.3 or 2.5, and that Honeycomb may hold the 3.0 crown. Honeycomb is also said to be the first Android release that would truly be optimized for tablets. So, where does that leave Gingerbread? So will Gingerbread remain on smartphones only? Likely not, but it may not be optimized for tablets the way Honeycomb will be.
