Our trusty Verizon source has given us a little bit of info that might get you Motorola Droid owners excited. We already know that the original Droid will be getting Android 2.2 , or Froyo, next week , but we’re hearing that the roll-out actually begins on Monday, August 2. Right now, we’re taking this with a grain of salt as our source was pretty confident with this date, but couldn’t give us the 100% assertion we needed....

It looks like Motorola has a heart after all – the manufacturer has released the source code for their best device to date, the Verizon Motorola Droid X . This is pretty exciting if you’re a developer or hacker, but there are a few hang ups. It looks like some of the code that is needed to successfully make a perfectly functioning third-party Android ROM for the Droid X is missing from the source code. While some code …  Read More →

This is one of those components Samsung needs to engage developers to embrace the new platform (Bada) – books for developers. And that’s exactly what the Bada team is working on as we speak. The book will be called “An Introduction to bada: A Developer’s Guide” and the first chapter is already available as a free download . Wiley is Samsung’s publisher of…  Read More →

Good news Sprint EVO 4G users, as the carrier just said you’ll be getting Android 2.2, or Froyo , next week. A quick note here for those of you that love your weather apps. Received a note the other day from the good folks at The Weather Channel , letting me know that The Weather Channel app for iPad has been updated. The update has addressed a number of bugs, and overall, the app should run faster, and be more stable on your iPad. Improved performance is always a good thing! In addition to the bug fixes, a current weather and radar map have been added...

In a bid to make the Amazon Kindle a mass-market device, the company will be introducing new versions of the e-reader next month that will feature a cheaper price tag and a slimmer, sleeker design. Speaking with the Wall Street Journal, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said a smaller Amazon Kindle will hit the company’s digital shelves next month with 3G connectivity from AT&T for $189. The other Amazon Kindle will be WiFi-only and it will cost...

The upcoming Windows Phone 7 won’t be lacking strong partners, as AT&T said it would fully support the new smartphone operating system. Today, AT&T has proclaimed itself as the champion of wireless carriers to get cozy with the Microsoft WP7 mobile operating system. “We’ll be the premier carrier for Windows Phone 7,” an AT&T spokesperson told PC World. “We haven’t given guidance on timing.”...

Nokia seems to be working on another low-end all-touchscreen device – Nokia 5250. The image above was taken from the Ovi Store , where such a device is one of the choices offered. We’ve no idea what’s Nokia 5250 all about. I would assume it relies on Symbian^1 with S60 5th Edition running on top of it. In other words, just like the Nokia N97 , N97 mini , 5800 XM , 5230 …  Read More →

37signals has purchased the Apple iPhone app Ember and the company has retooled the Campfire-chatting app and made it free. If you’ve never used Campfire, it’s a private chat room that can be used by businesses for collaboration and coordination. We use it here at IntoMobile, as do many other tech blogs, and our chats are often filled with deep, philosophical tech talk and filthy name calling. It has also become an essential tool...

So, the Library of Congress made a decision today about the Digital Millenium Copyrights Act, or DMCA, and you hackers and pirates started jumping for joy. All you heard was that jailbreaking and rooting your handset is now legal, so any feelings of guilt you might have had are probably all gone now. But if you haven’t jailbroken your iPhone or rooted your Android handset just yet, you might want to consider what the CTIA has to say about...

Following up on its craft and trade update last month , the location-based check-in game for iPhone, MyTown, has just become a little more interesting. Instead of just checking-in to real-world businesses and claiming them as your own in an online game of Monopoly, you can now use your phone’s camera to scan barcodes and check in to products. Doing so unlocks exclusive virtual items, and of course earns you in-game points. The main target...

Do you remember when AT&T was accused of throttling upload data speeds in New York City almost the instant someone discovered attenuated HSUPA speeds? The controversy spread across the web like a wildfire, but AT&T was quick to point out that its equipment partner, Alcatel-Lucent, was having some issues that was causing the defect. Both the carrier and Alcatel-Lucent said they were working quickly …  Read More →

Windows Phone 7 has had its browser thrown against the iPhone 3GS browser and results are, well, not at all shocking. It’s probably never a fair idea to put a tried-and-true browser up against one that hasn’t officially hit the market yet, but it sure is fun to see what happens. Microsoft said Windows Phone 7 is on track for release this year, but a number of folks have gotten units well ahead of time and decided to start running...
