  Website: zijric.com In this video I compare iPhone OS 3 to iOS 4 in a head to head speed matchup. I loaded a fresh install of iPhone OS 3.1.2 on my iPod touch 2G and then did the same with iOS 4. I ran several tests of the Safari browser that includes repeatedly opening websites over Wi-Fi and filming the results. I then did some general tests of the Maps application including timing the loading time and general speed and responsiveness. Lastly I timed opening up the graphically intense application Real Racing multiple times on both operating systems to see if there was any difference. Many people have reported that apps seem both faster and slower in some cases on iOS 4 so I decided to do a full test of a few major aspects of the operating systems to try and shed some light on the situation.

This comes on the new Apple iPhone 4, but can be installed for free on iPhone 3GS and 3G as well an many models in the Apple iPod Touch range. Some of the iOS4 features like multitasking will not be available on the iPhone 3G, but by now you might be due to upgrade to the iPhone 4. Some people have reported average performance on 3GS iPhone's with iOS 4, I have not had this problem, however some of my apps do not work with iOS 4, if an app is important to your work, make sure you check with the developer before upgrading. I've had a couple of apps that didn't work or did strange things, which have since been upgraded. I have other that crash and can not be used at all. I can see this could be areal problem for anyone that have an app they can't live without. After using iOS4 for just a short time, I would hate to be without it. for me it is a great improvement, with some long awaited additions like multitasking and folders.
